PAPER DOLLS
Empowering feminist themes are often addressed through my work. A visual entryway to open social discourse and promote women through art activism challenging the status quo, as well as tackling stereotypes and double standards. The paper doll series is an empowering body of artwork that uniquely addresses the objectification of women and how that is changing with the advancements in technology revolving around AI transforming our own perceptions of the world we live in today. Exploring that reality and somewhere just outside of it displacing the objectification into a hybrid robotic fractured existence.
Using almost childlike crayon markings in combination with wildly spontaneous large abstract paintings. Here I've been working with water soluble crayons, acrylics, gouache, spray-paint, charcoal, grease crayons and collage to develop tension and texture. Pulling the paints in every direction and working very loosely developing both a painterly effect in combination with loose drawings.a somewhat imaginary space hoverering in a hybrid human + bot existence currently fluctuating between real + imaginary.
