Abstract

Following my participation in ‘Beyond The Medium’ a 5 day workshop with Jason Hackenwerth in NOLA last fall, I began breaking down the barriers of my ‘comfort zone’ and expanding my artistic process. Working in a communal artist setting without interruption in a well-lit studio was groundbreaking not only in the quantity of work I was able to produce but I found myself working with a newfound energy using bold mark-making through various methods encouraging intuitive painting processes working larger at a faster pace. Exploring elements of typography as they flow organically in the process as figure or form. Using multilayering techniques + encouraging me to shut off the brain and let that creative energy flow by tapping into and encouraging a higher power through abstract methods.

As in all my work, both figurative and abstract alike, textures and multilayering are key.
