Abstract

After attending a wedding in the warehouse district of NOLA, I returned feeling completely inspired & found myself working using intuitive groupings of very brightly saturated color combinations. Embracing these physical responses I found myself returning to basics + appreciating my responsiveness to playing with color to evoke emotion.

This Fall, I returned to NOLA to participate in ‘Beyond The Medium’ a 5 day workshop with Jason Hackenwerth. I am still uncovering a newfound energy using bold mark-making through various methods encouraging intuitive painting processes of working at a fast pace developing a sense of urgency and intensity, working larger at a faster pace. Considering elements of typography as figure or form. Using multilayering techniques + brainstorming sessions imparting intuitive art techniques, working at a high volume fast pace to encourage shutting off the brain and letting that creative energy flow by tapping into and encouraging a higher power through abstract methods.
