Apocalyptic Series
The Apocalyptic Series by Jenny Ink took inspiration upon taking in a Jasper Johns exhibit at the Whitney over the summer of 2021 in which several monetary pieces were given new life through perspective & focus. The metallic tones resonated as did the changes to our current monetary exchanges.
At a time when, on the heels of a pandemic, current events were ripe with flagrant violations of human rights all the while social, political and economic misgivings abound. Being a bit of a Tank Girl fan and inspired by illustrations of Jamie Hewlett there are some influences throughout this body of work that will most likely ‘speak’ to all the ‘independent thinkers’. Each piece is meant to engage the viewer relating to the human condition; perceived notions of hope from discontent while facing a collective downfall exacerbated by modern technological advances and veering towards a dystopian trajectory.
